Spherical Silica Gel – HPLC Semi-Prep Grade

HPLC Semi-Prep Grade is well-suited for the packing of analytical, semi-preparative, and preparative HPLC columns.

The abundant silanol groups on the surface are readily accessible for hydrophilic interactions with more polar compounds which generally are retained longer, making them ideally suited for the purification of chemical synthesis intermediates, oils, fats, and natural products (vitamins, flavors, fragrances, etc.)

HPLC Semi-Prep Grade is available in porosities of 70Å, 100Å, 300Å, and 500Å and particle sizes of 5µm, 10µm, and 15µm.

Quality and diversity

HPLC Semi-Prep Grade utilizes Sorbtech’s Premium Rf™ Spherical Silica Gel which boasts narrow pore and particle distributions, ensuring optimal selectivity, capacity, efficiency, low operating pressure, and shorter processing time.

Purity

Premium Rf™ Spherical Silica Gel is manufactured to a high chemical purity standard (99.95% SiO2). Organics and trace metals content are controlled within stringent limits. Each production batch has undergone extensive quality control testing to ensure reliable lot-to-lot performance. This rigid control of chemical purity, surface area, and pore size, ensure our silica will yield reproducible separation results and allow for direct scale-up without requiring time-consuming method redevelopment.

Robust

Our spherical silicas are mechanically robust and can, therefore, be repacked multiple times in either analytical or preparative scale columns.

Spherical Silica Gel - Premium Rf Advantages
Features Benefits
Narrow particle size distribution
  • Higher (Sharper) resolution
  • More reliable resolution
Minimal fines
This means the backpressure is lower and faster run time.
Uniform porosity
High loading – which means you can load up to 30% more than granular – which means you can do fewer runs.
Minimal small pores
Lower risk of trapped solute in pores – which means you don’t lose your expensive sample.
Small pore volume
  • High bulk density – which means more silica in the same column – which leads to higher loading.
  • Lower “dead” volume – which means less solvent use.
Low metal content
Low interference of analytes (High Purity - 99.95% SiO2) and (individual metal content < 100 ppm) – which means you won’t have peak tailing with certain types of molecules.
Mechanically stable spheres
  • Stable rigid bed – which means the column bed won’t collapse, and you won’t have to replace the column so often.
  • Significantly less fine particle generation – which means the backpressure won’t gradually increase until the column is unusable.
